Victoria’s Treaty negotiations are about to begin. The treaty here in Victoria will ensure our First Nations people can use local knowledge in a whole range of ways to benefit the community – from caring for land and keeping culture strong, to improving the way services like health and education are delivered.

Do you have questions about what Treaty means for you and your community?

Anasina Gray-Barberio MP’s office is hosting a special conversation with First Nations community leaders. The event will focus on the significance of the Treaty for Victoria and the role of allies in supporting it, particularly our young people.

This Treaty forum aligns with NAIDOC Week, a significant national celebration that recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme, ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’, resonates deeply with the aims and discussions planned for the Treaty Forum, providing a timely and relevant context for our conversations. We anticipate that this alignment will further enrich the forum and underscore the importance of intergenerational collaboration.
