Anasina has worked at the grassroots level in community services, working on the frontlines with people experiencing homelessness, family violence, at risk young people and Pacific communities in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Her work with multicultural communities has proven that real change comes from listening, mutual respect and building collective power with people.

As a Pacific Islander, Anasina understands deeply the existential threat of the climate crisis. Rising seas, sinking islands, and disappearing coastlines are erasing the identity and home of the pacific people. Here in Victoria, bushfires, droughts and floods are devastating lives. Anasina is a staunch advocate for climate justice and will keep pushing governments to act with urgency, because the climate urgency is now, and it’s everywhere especially where resources are scarce and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Proudly raised in Broadmeadows, one of Melbourne’s most diverse and resilient communities, she learned early how rigid systems which refused to flex for nuances and difference of peoples lived experiences further marginalised communities. Grounded in community she’s driven to create change that elevates everyone.
