End Gendered Violence

On average, 1 woman dies every single week due to domestic and family violence in Australia.

This is unacceptable.

Despite countless calls over many years from the community, frontline workers and the sector this Labor Government’s silence and deflection shows they don’t value the lives of women and children.

1 in 3 women experience abuse in their lifetime – with First Nations, migrant and refugee, rural and regional, older, LGBTIQA+ and disabled women even more likely to experience violence.

Violence is not inevitable, it’s a political choice.

Victoria has the resources, the evidence, and the roadmap for change. Yet despite saying it wants to end violence against women, the Labor Government is not stumping up the funds to deliver it.

Labor stripped $1 MILLION from primary prevention programs in the 2026 State Budget.
Labor’s federal funding is only THREE QUARTERS of what the sector needs.
1-IN-4 WOMEN seeking help from violence are being turned away.

Men’s violence against women and children is a national crisis, and Labor is failing to meet the challenge.

That’s why the Greens have launched a comprehensive plan to address the national crisis of family, domestic and sexual violence, and calling on the State Labor Government to adopt it.

It includes:

Fully funding frontline and specialist family violence services
Early intervention behaviour change programs in schools, sporting clubs and across the community
Secure and affordable long term-housing
Safe crisis accommodation
Structural change tackling harmful industries and systems
